Drinking water every day is actually a new thing for me. I used to nnneeevvveeerrrr drink water unless I was working out because I am a delinquent. But I recently got a UTI and then a kidney infection and chugging water was the only thing that helped. I also noticed a lot of other benefits from chugging around a gallon or two of water every day: my lips weren’t chapped, I was sleeping better, I had more energy, I didn’t crave sodas or coffee, I wasn’t bloated, and my skin wasn’t as dry. Changed my life y’all. So I’m here to talk to you about how to drink more water everyday. And like, actually enjoy it.

I’m one of those people who would rather grab a pre-bottled drink out of the fridge instead of pouring myself a glass of water. That could be a bottled water, a soda, a juice box, a beer, or even a jar of pickle juice before I pour myself a glass of water. Why am I such a trash person? I would only pour a glass of water if I was hungover or if I had to swallow a pill and didn’t have any other beverage in front of me.

But all of that changed once I became a walking infection and chugging water just to pee it out was the only thing that made my symptoms better. Yay me!

And I know there are plenty of people out there who could be drinking more water also. So that’s why I’m sharing my knowledge on how to drink more water everyday, because if I can do it, EVERYONE can.

#1 – The first thing that helped me start drinking more water was carrying water with me everywhere I went. Dinner party? I have a water bottle with me. Work? Bottle of water is with me. Driving? Running errands? Grocery shopping? Hanging out at a friends house? Sleeping? B*tch you guessed it, I have a water bottle with me. ALWAYS keep water handy and within arms reach so you can drink that instead of getting up to go get something to drink.

#2 – The second thing that helped me start drinking more water was buying an extremely cute and boujee extra large water bottle/tumbler. If I’m going to be carrying this thing around with me all day every day, it at least better be cute and a good conversation starter. I bought the 24oz diamond Starbucks tumbler, and I swear, everyone makes a comment on how “sparkly” or “cute” or “bedazzled” or “fun” this water bottle is. And I love that shit. It’s like my second purse now, I never ever leave the house without it because it’s adorable.

#3 – Get a LARGE water bottle or tumbler. Like the biggest one they have. The bigger the water bottle, the less trips you have to make to the water fountain or fridge. Again, I bought the 24oz water bottle and it’s bigger than my head. But, there are 128 ounces in 1 gallon of water, so I only have to fill up my water bottle 5 times every day in order for me to drink a gallon of water. #Math. If you get a small or even a regularly sized water bottle, you’re going to be making more trips to the kitchen for refills and you’re going to have to refill it a lot to reach a gallon. And let’s face it, most of us are too lazy for that.

#4 – LEMONS. Lemons are your best friend. I have been buying the bulk bags of lemons and squeezing lemon juice into my water every day. It just gives it that something extra and makes drinking water a lot more enjoyable. Plus, lemon water helps reduce inflammation and bloating, so it’s kind of like you’re getting skinnier while you drink lemon water.

#5 – Water should be the first thing you drink in the morning. I get it, you need coffee in order to function. But chug a bottle of water FIRST, and then drink your coffee. You might even find that you don’t need your coffee after chugging the water. I always feel so energized and clear after drinking all that water in the morning like I could be the CEO of a company or something. So remember to chug your water first thing in the morning and then drink your coffee or tea or whatever.

#6 – Another thing that really helped me drink lots of water everyday was paying attention to how it made me feel. It’s so interesting because when I chug water all day I feel lighter and skinnier, I physically feel healthy, my lips aren’t their usual chapped mess, my hands and feet aren’t as dry, my facial skin looks better and brighter, I have so much more energy, I rarely drink sodas or coffee now, I feel smarter and more clear-headed, I don’t have cravings, and overall I just feel like a better version of myself. All from drinking a f*ck ton of water every day. So I’m going to keep drinking all of this water because I like the way it makes me feel and even look.

I’m sure there are all kinds of scientific evidence about how water helps with skin, hair, nails, lips, brain function, energy levels, etc. but I feel like my personal experience is evidence enough for me to keep drinking my water like a good little Kelsie.

So I hope this guide on how to drink more water everyday was helpful and has inspired you to drink more water, also!
