Hi friends! Recently I came across this wonderful, charitable company called Sand Cloud. I was watching my regular sailboat vloggers on YouTube and this ad for Sand Cloud popped up. The ad was talking about their revolutionary, sand-resistant beach towels, as well as their other eco-friendly products, which first caught my attention (y’all know how much I love tie-dye). And as the ad played on, they started talking about their charity work and how 10% of all profits go towards protecting and preserving the ocean! How cool is that?! So I wanted to talk today about their Save the Fishies campaign and let you all know how you can also help make a difference in preserving our oceans and marine life!
A few weeks ago, I shared a post about my life goal to live on a sailboat and travel around the world. So this ocean protection and preservation charity is very near and dear to my heart! I know this isn’t your typical “fashion and beauty blogger” post, but I just wanted to share some Save the Fishies awareness and spread the word about what a great job Sand Cloud is doing to save our oceans! FYI, I’m not getting paid to write this post and this is not a #ad, I just really care about the subject and I want to try to get more people involved 🙂
So first, let’s talk about the negative stuff and get it out of the way before I start crying. #SaveTheFishies Fact No. 101: everyday approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans (Sand Cloud). I’m sure you’ve seen all of the photographs and videos of fish and marine animals being harmed by pollution and trash in the ocean and I know you’ve heard all of the hubbub about straws and the sea turtles. Well it’s true and we should stop using straws and take better care of our planet! You can watch this really sad video about a sea turtle with a plastic straw stuck in its nose if you don’t believe me 🙁
The ocean is the Earth’s biggest life support system — the oxygen for every second breath we take comes from it. Healthy marine ecosystems are essential for human survival, wealth and well-being (Marine Conservation Institute). Sand Cloud works with the Marine Conservation Institute, Pacific Marine Mammal Center, San Diego Coastkeeper, Surfrider Foundation, Ocean Connectors, and Hawaii Wildlife Fund to help protect and preserve our oceans and 10% of all profits go towards marine conservation.
Now onto the merch! All of the Sand Cloud towels are loomed in Turkey and 100% Turkish Cotton, meaning they are extremely soft and lightweight. They also have a sand-resistant design, so if you’re at the beach and have sand on your towel, you can literally just shake it a little and all of the sand will fall right off! How cool is that?! That’s what really got me interested in these towels and then I saw that they give 10% of profits to marine conservation and I was sold! I bought the Wanderlust Towel which has a rainbow tie-dye color. I definitely have a thing for tie-dye. And I love how there are little tassels on the ends of the towel! The towel is 38 x 64” so 3.2 feet wide by 5.3 feet long so I fit perfectly on it when I’m laying out at the beach or at the pool! They also have a XL towel that two people can fit on or you can use it for picnics, outdoor concerts, or as a lawn towel.
I also bought the Sterling Silver Shark Fin ring, which I am adding to my regularly-worn jewelry. It’s 100% sterling silver so it won’t tarnish in water and it is super cute for summer! And it has “Save the Fishies” engraved on the inside.
I was accepted to be an ambassador for Sand Cloud so I can help do my part with spreading the word about their Save the Fishies movement! With that said, all of my readers/followers can use my discount code “LOCKARDKELSIE182” to get a 25% discount on all Sand Cloud products. I don’t make a commission or percentage of any sales where my discount code above is used, but 10% of it will go towards preserving and protecting marine life, beaches, and the ocean in general. So please check out their site and their merchandise and what they are all about. If you do end up buying something, you will be helping save cute little seals and dolphins and helping clean up our beaches and ocean!
