Alright, it’s about that time! Two weeks ago, Sephora had their Spring Insider Sale Event and if you read this post, you will see that I bought a lot of products during the sale! Most products were new, first-time tries for me so I wanted to go ahead and write a Sephora Spring Sale haul review over all the makeup I bought and what I think about everything after two weeks of using it.
#1 – The prize product award from this Sephora haul definitely goes to the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. This stuff has changed my entire makeup look, for the better! Normally, when I apply my liquid foundation and my liquid concealer/highlighter, my face turns out very creamy and almost oily and looks like I’m very obviously wearing makeup. But this Laura Mercier loose setting powder absorbs all of the creamy texture and oil and makes my face makeup look very natural. Not to mention, it also brightens up my face and makes my makeup look like it was done by a professional. I use this powder with a small-medium fluffy brush and I gently tap the brush into the powder, shake the excess off back into the container, and then press the powder into the areas where I applied concealer/highlighter. I do a form of baking, but I don’t have to wipe off the extras afterwards, and I apply this under my eyes, on my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, and on my jawbone!
#2 – I’m also very happy about the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Collection Color Splash lipstick in “Beach Babe”! It’s the perfect work-day nude lip color for me because it’s subtle enough to look natural and not stir up a bunch of “oh, hot date tonight?” comments from the guys in the office but it’s still noticeable enough to tell that I’m wearing lipstick. I don’t know what it is about guy friends that make them always tease us girls about wearing lipstick… So this is the perfect shade to wear to work while I sit at a desk behind a computer screen all day! It is matte so it doesn’t look all glossy and shiny and I reapply this lipstick every 2-3 hours or so depending on how much coffee or water I’m drinking.
#3 – And with that said, the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Collection H2O lip gloss in “Sandy Toes” is also perfect to add a little razzle dazzle to my lipstick and give it a gold pop of shine! I don’t wear this lip gloss all day while I’m at work but I have been wearing it out on the weekends when we visit family or go run errands or something because it’s not super bright and in-your-face but it’s also a subtle gold glow that makes my natural makeup look more glam! I also love how this lip gloss doesn’t get all sticky or tacky like some other lip glosses do. This one absorbs right into the lipstick and feels like I’m not wearing any lip color.
#4 – The Dr. Brandt Skincare Needles No More 3-D Lip PlumpFix is also quite exciting for me! My first reaction when I opened the box was how small each product tube was very small and I thought that I was going to run out of this after five uses, but a little definitely goes a long way. I apply the morning product while I’m finishing up my makeup so that it has time to dry before I put on lipstick. It does get a little tingly on my top lip but that’s normal if you have ever used any kind of plumping lip product! The night time product was a lot thicker than I expected, it’s almost like putting body lotion on your mouth, haha! So be careful to use only a tiny little amount or else you will run out in five uses. Overall it makes my lips look and feel a lot better and more defined so it’s a good buy I think. I don’t know if I will buy this exact product again, but I might try something similar next time and see which one works better!
#5 – The Tarte Fake Awake Eyeliner was a little overhyped I feel… I mean sure, it makes my eyes look more open, but mostly it just looks like I’m wearing white eyeliner on my bottom waterline. I think it is less “fake awake” and more “white eyeliner” look, which there’s nothing wrong with that. The white eyeliner look is having a huge moment right now so this eyeliner is great to achieve that look but it just doesn’t make me look more awake, if that makes sense… I’m definitely still going to wear it because I like the white eyeliner look but I’m not going to overestimate it by expecting it to make me look more awake.
#6 – The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz is no stranger to me. I have been religiously using this brow-liner for several years now, but the “Chocolate” color is definitely new to me. I have always used the “Dark Brown” (formerly “Brunette”) color but I guess my face or eyebrow hair just decided to change color and it was making the “Dark Brown” shade look a little too dark. Maybe it’s because I haven’t been tanning my face so my skin is lighter? But I really really like the “Chocolate” Brow Wiz shade! It makes my eyebrows look more natural and less contrasted against my pale skin.
#7 – Now for the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Match Stix Matte Skinstick in shade “Mocha”. I haven’t quite decided how I feel about it yet… Or maybe I just haven’t mastered using it yet? I’ve tried using it with a beauty blender, with a small blending brush, and with a foundation brush but every time I use it, it just blends completely out and disappears. So it isn’t quite living up to my hopes and expectations but maybe I’ll figure it out soon and it’ll work as my cream contour.
I’m still using all of the products and really getting used to them all since most of them are new to me, but I just wanted to share what I thought about everything so far and what luck I have had with them. I hope this Sephora Spring Sale haul review was helpful for everyone curious about it! I had been getting some questions about how I liked certain products and now here we are!
