Well my friends, summer is upon us. Dresses have always been my favorite summer style/favorite way to beat the Texas summer heat! They’re more breathable than a pair of shorts and a top, and they’re perfect to throw on over a swimsuit for a day at the lake or the beach or at a pool party, and summer dresses just make me feel so light and free-spirited. So I’ve rounded up my favorite 5 dresses you need this summer to help you get the most out of this season!
In all honesty, you can wear a dress for every occasion during the summer: brunch with your girl friends, running errands, a night out on the town, a summer wedding, a date night with your man, a pool party, or even to work! If I kept up with shaving my legs, I would probably wear dresses 24/7. I think they make me happier, haha! The Summer Brunch With Girlfriends Dress
For brunch or just meeting my friends or family for margs on a Saturday I always like to wear my trendiest day-time dresses. Usually my go-tos are the off-the-shoulder dresses with fun pom-poms or tassels. And I like to style those trendy, fun dresses with espadrilles and a fun bag like my Cult Gaia Ark clutch.
The Summer Running Errands Dress
When I’m just hanging out at the house or out running errands I’ll typically throw on a comfy t-shirt dress or just the softest dress that I have in my closet. In my case, it’s my tie-dye t-shirt dress, my comfy chambray dress, or a cotton halter-top dress. They’re all very breathable and it keeps me from getting too hot and sweaty. I’ll style these with my Tory Burch Miller sandals.
The Summer Event Dress
Weddings, baby showers, engagement parties – especially outside during the day – definitely require a dress to keep you cool and fashionable! I wore the purple and blue patterned maxi dress to a baby shower that mostly took place outside. And I wore the dark purple high-low dress to an engagement party that mostly took place on an outside patio. I have a wedding coming up in September (I know, not summer, but in Texas it’s still really hot!) that I’m planning on wearing the light purple ASTR lace midi dress to!

For date night or just going out with your friends during the summer, dresses are always great to look and feel sexy. I always like to pair my date night dresses with heels and a small shoulder bag or clutch.
The Summer Work Dress
And of course during the summer, you have to wear appropriate, summer dresses to work! Most of the time, I will pair one of my summer dresses with a cardigan or an unbuttoned button up to add sleeves. Or I will wear one of my nicer t-shirt dresses like my black and white striped dress or my jewelled, beige dress!
