Chapped Lips Treatment

So, it’s Spring right? Well if you are anything like me, you will have the WORST allergies for about 3-4 months. I’m talking nose running like a faucet, itchy, gooey, purple eyes, can only breathe out of your mouth, sneezing about 47 times a day. Sound familiar? During this not-so-attractive Springtime, my lips get super chapped because I’m breathing out of my mouth all day and night. Well this has been happening to me since at least middle school (as far as I can remember exact itchy, gooey, sneezy instances) and so I have had plenty of experience with the best chapped lips treatment to help combat this.

This isn’t just a “use this one lip product and you’ll be good” type of deal. I’m talking about a full chapped lips treatment ROUTINE. Morning to night. Many different products. I have done the research, the experimentation, the trial and error, and I have micromanaged my lip care routine to get my lips feeling their best.

This also isn’t just for the Spring either. This can be for the colder months or just year round. This can also be used to help plump your lips and keep them looking hydrated and full.

So here we go.

First thing in the morning, after you brush your teeth, it’s time to exfoliate your lips. Get all of the dried, dead skin off so they will be less chapped. This will also help plump your lips as well. I use the Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant and rub in a circular motion on my lips to remove the dead skin and start with a smooth blank canvas.

After exfoliating in the morning, I apply the Laneige Lip Mask. I have a different lip product that I use as a sleep lip mask so this Laneige one I use during the day and it is perfect. It makes my lips super plumped and hydrated and it lasts for quite a while.

After the Laneige lip mask wears off (from eating or drinking), I will apply my daily chapped lips treatment products. I like to use two different products depending on 1.) how chapped my lips are, and 2.) if I need a more makeupy look. When my lips are really chapped I use the Aquaphor Lip Repair Ointment. The Aquaphor is usually my go-to during the day. I keep one on my desk, one in my car, and one in my purse and I reach for it all the time so it doesn’t dry out. You can also get the Aquaphor with SPF 30 if you are going to be outside. Always protect your lips, as well as your skin!

And when I am trying to look more “done-up” with makeup on or my lips just aren’t as chapped, I like to use the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Nourishing Lip Balm. This one is also SPF 20 so I will wear this one if I am going to be outside for a while. It does have a more lip balm, makeupy look compared to the Aquaphor and it absorbs a lot quicker so that’s why I use it on my less-chapped days when I don’t need to look/feel like I just french kissed a bottle of olive oil.

When I get into bed, I apply the Bite Beauty Agave Intensive Vegan Lip Mask that I keep by my bed at all times. I sleep with this lip mask on so it absorbs all night (6-8 hours) and I wake up with soft, smooth lips in the morning. This is seriously my all-time FAVORITE lip product that I have ever tried.

I first got it when I had my wisdom teeth removed my senior year of high school because I was just constantly mouth-breathing, couldn’t close my mouth or lick my lips with those cotton things, so my mom brought me home this lip mask and it changed my life. I also apply a little before I go to the dentist so my lips don’t crack and dry out while they are stretching my mouth to the limits and leaving it open for so long. It PLUMPS your lips so it looks like you got a little filler action. And it keeps your lips hydrated literally for 24 hours. I apply it once, usually at night, and my lips are so perfect all the next day. It does have a higher price point but it lasts a long time and it does the MOST to keep your lips hydrated and nourished so definitely worth the $26!

If I had to pick one lip product to use for the rest of my life, it would definitely buy the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. And if I had to pick two lip products to only use for the rest of my life, it would be the Bite Lip Mask and the Aquaphor Lip Repair ointment. Those are just my favorite for when my lips are bad and I need some chapped lips treatment. I could go without lipstick or lip gloss if I only had those two products.
